The Hispanic Coalition's New York Latino Youth Summit
Latino youth is the fastest growing demographic in the country. If we are to ensure we have a community ready to make educated decisions, we must allocate the resources necessary to ensure we are proving adequate information and support.
Through the NY Latino Summit, we seek to empower our youth by engaging them to take ownership of their future. From key note speakers, to workshops leaders, the summit will be lead by a group of teens. Community professionals will facilitate and mentor teens who will talk about issues important to them at the workshops.
Workshop structures will be collaborative and will seek to build leadership skills. Elected officials will participate in the Political discussion and students will be exposed to what it is like to participate in a "real" election.
The Hispanic Coalition NY will work with community organizations, corporate sponsors, elected officials, media, Churches, school districts, and others.
Plans for the 2011 New York Latino Summit are already underway and more information will be posted soon.
